When what YOU say, matters...

Heya all. How have your day been? I know it’s a weekend, but sadly [:)] you have another blog entry. This would be really trouble-free. And I want you all to make it as short and as momentous as possible. Make it memorable that when someone reads it, it strikes the person instantaneously. Make an impact to the readers.

We all have something to say to people. Imagine that you are given the chance to tell the nation what you have always wanted; tell the nation your story. What would it be? Everyone has their own story... what’s yours?

Keep it short and simple but yet meaningful.

Have fun and all the best :)

Move to d Grooveeeeee!!!!

Hey all, how is it going..Since all of you did a great job in the assignments posted, i've got something special lined up for you guys. No, dont worry, it won't be anymore task and anything of that sort (be thankful there's no more work!!!).

What I want you to do this time is, get yourself into groups of 5 or 6 and come up with the coolest, wackiest, beat pumpin' moves. You can choose the music of your choice (NO hardcore music puhlezzz!!!). You can dress up acoordingly, but please makesure you are not breaking any rules.

I am giving you 1 week to come up with your moves and your music. Bring your beats to school and the best group will be able to perform in the school hall during recess time (Wednesday 10.30am).

So, good luck guys and have fun. I've attached an example of video. If you can come up with something of that sort, it would be better.

REFLECTION...

Halo everyone, how was the one-day off school? You all had fun? I am sure you are praying hard so that the 'blog entries' has its day off too. I wish the 'day' was in the blog calender, but i guess for now, it's a missing link - a permanent one ;p

What i want you to do today is to write a reflection paper on your early reading history. Think about your own early reading history and write up to 350 words about books that were important to you and why. If you were deprived of books for any reason, write about that and what it meant to you.

Give your writing an appropriate title.

Your answers must be submitted with the title of the book that "moulded" you.

I've given you an example of my own reading history and how it changed my perception.

Have fun exploring what you thought was just a coincidence. Good luck :)

Here is an example of my own early reading history:

It’s never easy to start to read a book and an avid reader is never born overnight. Sometimes I ponder upon what has change me, the way I think and my beliefs. Something that made me craves for books at all times, and that somewhat which made me what I am today. There’s always a light that guides us to right path or shows us what is right and wrong. That light can be our family, friends or school. But for me, it was this book.

OPRAH WINFREY: I DON’T BELIEVE IN FAILURE

This book is important to me as it was the only book which made me a wiser person I am today and more mature in my decisions. Her stories of success and not giving up in life makes me have doubt in my own judgments and that made me open my eyes to what I can be if I work harder and determine to do so. I am what I am by what I believe and I definitely can’t be what I need to be by remaining what I am. It changed the way I contemplate about people and circumstances. I used to laugh at society with incapability’s and thought that they can’t do anything, but deep down I knew that I was as uncharacteristic as they as, because I didn’t do anything that I could be proud of. For the fact that those people are physically incapable and yet they strive to make ends meet, and me, who can make wonders, but still struggling to find my identity. I use to give up even at slightest things, even at circumstances which can be solved in minutes; I procrastinate just so that I can be leisurely free.

This book has changed me in a way that I learned how to appreciate people around us and a person is always a person no matter how small he is. There’s a saying goes “you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover” and that is exactly what I refrain myself from doing. I’ve met so many people of many walks of life, of many experiences and status, and they never fail to amaze me. There’s also some who brags about their class and fame and about things that they do and contribution to the society, but at the end of the day, there will be a moment where they’ll ask themselves if what they are doing is what they desire. Different people have different personality and through this book, I learned to appreciate each of them. There’s some who are quiet, but that doesn’t mean they are unintelligent and not aware of surroundings. These people are more introspective and they tend to outdo the rest. There are also some who are relatively noisy and bossy, but that doesn’t make them any intelligent or stand out of crowd. People often choose the latter group to mix around with and at some point they lose their character and identity, because they were too busy trying to fit in. I struggled with this phenomenon once. I tried so hard to blend with people whom I thought was popular and all-so-wow, but later I realized that I was not being myself and that was not what I want. I don’t blame that bunch of friends either, because they were born in that circular of lifestyle.

I am merely quiet, but if I have my clicks, then I do talk as much, something which I don’t do with everyone. I am not being arrogant, but this is what I am and I am happy with it, because I know I’m mature enough to take the right step in order to gain success, and doing the best at this moment puts me in the best place for the next moment. I don’t have to show people my capabilities, but as long as I can prove it to myself, no other happiness would outcast that feeling. There are so many people out there who share the same characteristic as I am, and what we all have to learn is to appreciate every human being, as what I have learned from this book. Yes I do struggle at times juggling with these substances. But where there is no struggle, there is no strength. This book changed my prospective towards life and to see things beyond what it is shown. I still have my feet on the ground; I just wear better shoes..

Oprah Winfrey:
“I don't believe in failure. It is not failure if you enjoyed the process”

Riddles and Poems...

Hey all, how have you been doing? How was the weekend? Mine was great. I went shopping!!!! (Sorry guys, it’s a lady’s nature). I bought this great pairs of heels and I thought to myself, why not give a task about things that we like (See guys, even during shopping, you can obtain ideas. So, my advice is… GO shopping and DON’T hesitate when your girlfriend tags you along. You never know what might pop up – EXCEPT for ideas of finding a new girlfriend!)

Anyway, enough of fantasizing about your hero and heroine, let's get back to WORK!!!

As i was saying....

For example, I love heels. So, I wrote a poem-riddle like about my heels. What I want you to do is get a picture of something you like. Something really symbolic and simple but yet sophisticated. Something that has many possibilities to be discovered.

I’ve attached here a picture of what I like the most and the stanza for it.

You can write in whichever way you feel comfortable and most creative in.

Have fun and enjoy mingling around with English :)

They are the houses of our feet,
Something so adorable, everyone is petite,
It’s the perfect fit for your feet,
And it’s definitely a glitz.

Red and pink,
Tell me what I should choose,
If they’d let me buy.

Bow ones, buckle ones,
Pretty pointy-toe ones,
Strappy cappy low ones,
Let’s have some to try.

White ones, dark ones,
Dance-all-night ones,
Perhaps a little sexy ones,
Like some? So would I.

I dance with it on the floor,
Making all guys go down to the core.

I walk with them on,
Making everyone turn their head to this throne.
Hard surfaces of grounds,
With dusty layers in town,
As I brace through life with a frown.

Cutting my toes,
Hurting my heels,
As I walk through roads,
And others go on wheels.

Only now after all the suffering,
Without a treat,
Do I miss my hard protective house of feet.

As my love for Miss. Sandals and Miss. High heels blast,
I am confident that my graceful walk through life will last...

Opinion writing...

Good evening.

I am going to make this real short and simple (KISS formulae). You are required to write an opinion essay based on the poster that I’ve attached. Your opinion essay should be more than 200 words and the best essay would be published in our school magazine and also on the bulletin board.

The top 5 essays would also be rewarded (I won’t tell you what the reward is, but trust me, it is worth it). You are required to cover all possibilities that are on the poster and also add some of your ideas (don’t be lazy!!!!).

Here are some questions that can help you write your essay:
- what is the picture saying?
- what is tobacco?
- in what ways can smoking harm you?
- what are the side efeects of smoking?
- if you have friends who smoke, how would you encourage them to quit?

All essays must reach me on Wednesday before 12pm. I won’t take in essays that are submitted after 12pm and for those who don’t mind losing 20% of assessment course mark, you don’t have to submit your work

Good luck to everyone and happy writing :)

Create an add/commercial

Good morning students. I hope all of you had a good sleep last night…and waking up to a new blog entry would definitely freshen up your day (eheheheheh).

Today’s entry would be more relaxed and enjoyable, but that doesn’t mean you take it lightly. All of you know that the easier the task becomes, the greedier I am in giving you marks. So, pull up your socks and paraphernalia up your hands for this activity.

I want you to get into groups of four, maximum five and come up with an advertisement. You are required to do a power point presentation for this. Come up also with a beguiling caption for your Add; because you in your teams will be acting out your caption to your classmates and they are suppose to guess what your caption is. If anyone knows playing ‘Charades’…it is very similar to that.

You break down your captions into categories and act out what each category means without saying a word. You have to ‘explain’ to them about your caption and the only way you can do it, is mutely. You will be graded according to your creativity and gestures. If let’s say your classmates can’t guess it, you are suppose to change your gestures till they get it right.

This would unquestionably be fun. So, students brush up your acting skills and thump “Paris Hilton” flat!!

Attached here are some advertistments. Have a gag guys.

TRANSLATIONS...

Hello everyone, good afternoon. Ape khabar? How was kelas hari ini? Other teachers got give work onot? Very siao wan rite got so many work to do? In blog aso, must do work. Sorry lah, you all kenot escape.

Anyway, since we learned about Malaysian English today and how some of us translate directly from our mother tongue into English, we are going to practice it now. Yes, it’s funny, but it’s also quite common.

What you are going to do today is, watch a video from National Geographic which is in Bahasa and translate the words into English. I want the words to match the clip and please, no manglish alright. We have learned the flaws, so the best way to avoid them, is through practice.

Write them down in your workbook and pass it up to me in your next class. NO plagiarizing your classmate’s work. I will definitely know if you do that. If can, please write down the minutes in which you are translating at, so that it would be easier for me to grade you. Thank you.

Have a great day ahead and don’t forget to bring your workbook :)
